Namo Village Forest Management, Kulawi District, Sigi Regency, Supervised
by Sudirman Dg. Massiri and Arman Maiwa.
Village Forest is a state forest managed by the village and used for the welfare
of the village. Village Forests are formed based on community empowerment in
and around forest areas, Village Forest management to realize fair and sustainable
forest management. Namo Village, Kulawi District, Sigi Regency is one of the
Village Forests that was formed in 2010, the existence of the Namo Village Forest
is a natural resource and a source of income for the people who live around the
forest area. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to the role of the extension
worker in facilitating Village Forest management. This study aims to find out the
role of extension workers in facilitating every Namo Village Forest management
activity from its inception to the present day.
This research was conducted in Namo Village, Kulawi District, Sigi Regency
for 3 months, from April to June 2022. The data collection technique was using indepth interviews and questionnaires with respondents who were taken based on the
consideration that the respondents were KPH Kulawi extension workers, village
officials, social forestry business groups, and Village Forest management
institutions so the number of respondents is 68 people. Data analysis used a
quantitative descriptive method which explained clearly and accurately in detail the
role of extension workers in the management of the Village Forest in Namo.
The results of this study indicate that the role of extension workers in Namo
Village Forest management is in the very high category and the role of extension
agents is very important for Namo Village Forest management activities. The
optimal role of extension agents in Village Forest management activities includes
facilitating the determination of work areas, facilitating an inventory of forest
potential, facilitating the preparation of RKPS and RKT plans, facilitating
monitoring of forest use, facilitating the formation of KUPS, facilitating KUPS
monitoring, facilitating infrastructure support and training to increase value add
products, and facilitate product marketing. The role of extension workers who have
not been optimal in Village Forest management activities is facilitating access to
capital, facilitating KUPS class improvement, and facilitating institutional
strengthening training.
